A t action by the inspection of the Integrated Base Antônio Lemos, installed on the Tajapuru River, in Marajó, resulted in the arrest of one of the masterminds behind the murder of a missionary in Amapá. The arrest was made on Wednesday (21), while the suspect was traveling on a boat heading to Belém.
The police work began after receiving a tip that Michel Cardoso, known as "Cheiroso", would be on the boat "Ana Marques" coming from Macapá. The suspect had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Justice.

During the search of the boat, Michel tried to hide, but was located and arrested. With him, the agents found a mobile phone. He was taken to the Base and later to the Civil Police Superintendency in Breves.
According to the head of the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), Ualame Machado, the work of the Fluvial Base Antônio Lemos plays a crucial role in the safety of riverside communities, acting against crimes such as drug trafficking, illegal fishing, and deforestation, and in this case, removing criminals from the streets.
"The arrest made by the Fluvial Base Antônio Lemos demonstrates that investment in fluvial bases and training our agents has a direct impact on the safety and well-being of our population. This action demonstrates the efficiency of intelligence work and the readiness of agents to protect our region," he said.

According to information, Michel Cardoso, along with Ana Maria Cardoso, are being investigated for being the masterminds behind the murder of missionary Márcio Souza Silva, 49 years old, which occurred on October 22, 2024, in the Muda neighborhood, south zone of Macapá.
Michel and Ana Maria would be the masterminds of the crime, having ordered two other people to carry it out. The day after the incident, one of the perpetrators was caught in the act and confessed to the crime to settle a debt from drug use.
Marcio Souza was a missionary of an evangelical church and worked in the communities. He was also a student at the Federal Institute of Amapá (IFAP). According to investigations, the missionary was executed for being seen as an obstacle to the drug trade in the region.
